Coincidentally, following the release of the Ponniyin Selvan movie, I have
been reading the English translation of the book it is based on. It is set
during the Chola empire, where the Cholas were fighting the Rashtrakutas
constantly. The book is pretty parochial about how great the Cholas were,
and how the Rashtrakutas *had* to be vanquished.
