I usually say ‘As little as possible’ in the naive hope that this ends the matter. If pressed, and if I am not rescued by a friend who knows my awkwardness, I mumble something along the lines of ‘basically words.’ Which is an awful strategy because they wind up thinking either that I’m rude or that I am wanting them to ask more questions. As a sort of self-protective thing, I used a number of offbeat questions that usually do lead to interesting conversations.
