I will also recommend ubuntu.....

i have completely switched to ubuntu as the de facto OS on all my personal and official desktop computers (still trying it for laptops....:)  )... i ran windows dually for a while, and realized i was never ever booting into it.....so i have even gone ahead and erased windows completely....  apart from a glitch with one of ubuntu's recent kernel/desktop updates, everything has run very smoothly....
