I came across Ian McDonald's _River of Gods_ [1] at a remote Northern California bookstore yesterday. Judging this book by its cover, it is supposed to be a near future sci-fi book set in India. It had a quote from Cory Doctorow in the back cover.
It's good, provided you separate the story from the science. Some of what he says in the book still comes back to me when thinking of the changing media landscape.
