I do wish science was more interspersed with humour in India. Yesterday I attended a lecture by Dr. Pamela Gay about Citizen Science: http://nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/event-view.cfm?Event_ID=16267 and she spoke about how lay people, punning after finding pea-coloured-and-shaped structures through a telescope (the pictures were posted, entitled, "Give Peas A Chance") led to discoveries about these astronomical phenomena. I find, in India at least, that scientists of my generation seem to TTS...Take Themselves Seriously. And truly, science seems to have got divorced from ordinary citizens. Perhaps that's changed with the new generation.... Cheers, Deepa.
