Indians form queues like a herd of cattle at a gate. That is the "natural 
order". No one has a fixed rank by virtue of being there first, but there is a 
rough ranking system where you get through a bit earlier if you got there a 
bit earlier. 

It is an artificially imposed travesty that humans should be made to line up in 
a long queue that causes some people to have to walk a long convoluted path to 
a gate while others get off easy mainly because they ran 5 minutes earlier 
where their unseemly and inelegant hurry was not noticed.

On the other hand, when it comes to "respecting the next person even if he is 
a twit" Indians go strictly by chronological rank. If you got here earlier - 
that is, if you were born earlier, you get more respect.
