Interesting. I have (in my not so humble opinion) a very good sense of
direction. For as long as I can remember, I rarely get lost and even
when in an unfamiliar area I can navigate by orientating my towards my
destination.

I have never found turn-by-turn GPS navigation very useful. I use GPS
to plan my route before travelling and to validate my assumptions
about where I am. Perhaps I just build my mental models very quickly
and then find the GPS instructions redundant,
