My brother-in-law came by the other day with a massive cold. I asked
him if it usually ends up in his chest. He said it always turns into
bronchitis.

I had mentioned my interest in CS to him once before, and he seemed
receptive, so I took the opportunity to give him a bottle. I told him
*all* the negative warnings and cautions I could think of:

+ The only important toxic effect of silver ingestion is a
*permanent* blue/grey discoloration of the skin called argyria, that
can be caused by taking hundreds of times more silver than is in
the CS, particularly in the form of insoluble silver compounds.

+ Don't expect it to cure the cold, but if it keeps it out of your
chest by stopping the secondary bacterial infections, that's the
kind of thing we are hoping for.

+ If you should happen to kill off enough bugs quickly enough with
the CS you might experience a Herx, and feel worse before you feel
better. So start with a small dose and increase it over a day or two.

+ You don't have a known allergy to silver, do you? Have problems
with silver jewelry, for instance? That's another reason to start
with a very small dose.

I saw him Sunday, and he still had the cold, but he had been taking
the CS and it hadn't gone into his chest. He seemed to be doing
pretty well.

We'll see what he feels about it after this episode is over. My
brother is next on the list of people who want to give it a try.

Be well,

Mike
