Bob, That is the generator I currently use. I was thinking that maybe it was best to go with the DC generator due to the steady current that you would get instead of using the batteries. I have a light on my generator that lights slightly about 5 minutes into the process. I watch it carefully to make sure it does not become bright, that is usually when a "silver" bridge has formed.

The cheapest rig you can make is just to wire three 9 volt (or 12 volt) batteries in series with a small light bulb to protect from accidental shorting and to give you an idea of how much current is flowing as the process of making CS nears completion.
