from email from another fellow experimenting with CS,
who has the above meter (a TDS-1):
:So I tested 3 batches w the TDS1 & sent them off for "atomic adsorption"
:analysis to Kimball Labs in Lehi, UT (only $10 PER SAMPLE --- a steal
:compared to the going rate in the industry: $25-50.) My hope was to be
:able to build a reliable conversion factor table, so that we can then
:depend on DIRECT TDS1 readings in the future.
:
:Well I called up & got the results today: and the relationship is NOT
:linear --- all we can count on is that the true silver content is higher
:than the TDS1 silver content reading --- it varies betw 20% and 50% higher.
:(I'm assuming Kimball's testing is accurate. Don't know if that's a
:reasonable assumption, but I'd rather believe him than my TDS1.)
Note that this meter can be purchased directly from Hanna Instruments
for around $15.00+S/H, but if you purchase it directly from them, you
probably also want to buy the calibrating solution kit (enough for 25
calibrations) for $15.00+S/H. Call Diane Guimont, Inside Sales,
800-426-6287. They also sell a pH meter, model "CHAMP", for $30+S/H,
and calibrating solution for it is about $7+S/H. I recently ordered all
of these from them. (I was originally going to order the TDS-1 from
Gerald D. Perry for $30 (including S/H and the initial calibration) but
I'm in Canada and he doesn't take VISA.)

What happens if you increase the amount of water? Say I wanted to make
8 cups at once instead of just 8 ounces?
