Our biggest problem here is tannins in the water. We can't drink it. Our
kitchen dishcloth turns dark brown in just a few days. All my dishes turn
brown. We use lots of Zud on the sinks. The drains get coated with a thick
brown slime. It's horrible. No matter how deep a person puts a well down
around here (we're next to Lake Superior) they never get past the tannin
problem. Tannins are caused from rotting vegetation and at 400 feet around
here they find cattails and rotting logs. It's incredible. We have iron too
but you can't see it for all the tannins.
