You mix a few drops of a sodium chlorite solution with a weak organic acid like vinegar, lemon or lime juice, or citric acid, which produces a very small quantity of chlorine dioxide, which is mostly dissolved in the liquid, though you can smell it, as well. Then you add this to some apple juice or something and chug it... Yes, Andy, if you mixed a significant amount of sodium chlorite with a bunch of acid, it'd create enough chlorine dioxide to be seriously harmful. That's the toxicity they're talking about. You can also drown in a swimming pool, or die from eating the pool chemicals. MMS is powerful stuff and has definitely helped some folks, but you MUST NOT remain ignorant if you are going to attempt to use it. Nor should anyone decide NOT to learn about MMS just because somebody else chooses to say scary sounding things about it. Be well, Mike D.
