Vilik Citric Acid is an acid, with a pH of 2.2 at 0.1M. Citrus fruits contain citric acid, but are considered alkaline foods because of the alkaline minerals they contain. When all reactions are concluded an alkaline residue remains. Some people say that citric acid promotes an alkaline pH, that may be so, but in and of itself, it is an acid. The acid in lemon juice is citric acid.
