Lynn; Go to the grocery store and you will find it as it is used in steam irons and it is call demineralized. It makes CS rather rapidly. If you are using 27 volts (3-9 volt batteries) and have spaced the electrodes 1" apart then in about an hour the ppm should be about 6 and at the 2 hr. point about 10.
