Dear Marshall, I am so sorry about your mother. My heart just breaks for your loss.
I don't blame you for feeling anguished the medical care she received. I wish there could be a revolution in health care in this country. Doctors are arrogant as a community, and like any bully collective, keep each other pumped up about doing the same things over and over again. Somehow it seems to me, however, that this very hubris will eventually shape the transformation. The crowds of medical refugess are swelling, and eventually the wave will wash across the landscape, carving it anew. I am so sorry this didn't happen in time to save your mother's life.
