[Lisa] Has anybody had any experience (or luck) in normalizing thyroid function with CS? Or even a combination of CS, MMS, DMSO or anything else? I've been having issues (originally diagnosed at hypo.now possibly hyper). I've got an appt with an endocrinologist at the end of the month: however, I certainly would like to self-treat and use the dr. for tests/results and possibly a diagnosis.
====================================== Lisa, I'm one of the most do-it-yourself people around. However, I can tell you from personal experience that thyroid disorders are among the few conditions that one should NOT self-treat. The situation you describe, where you're alternately hypo and now possibly hyper, sounds like it might be an autoimmune condition affecting your thyroid. In autoimmune conditions, the body attacks various tissues. In Hashimoto's thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition affecting the thyroid, there are two sets of antibodies that the body has produced. Metagenics makes two nutritional products, one for each set of antibody markers, to help stabilize and overcome the autoimmune component of thyroid disorders. It's reasonable to assume that the presence of mycoplasma and other bacteria without cell walls (or other genetically engineered pathogens) inside the tissues have caused the body to attack itself. However, whether CS would help can only be seen with experimentation, as the CS must touch pathogens in order to work. I'm not sure CS could reach inside the cell wall to a transformed microbe; does anyone know? Supplementation with the proper thyroid hormone is paramount. An article I wrote an article on Hypothyroidism Type 2 was published in the December 2008 issue of Townsend Letter. While it does not address autoimmune problems of the thyroid per se, it will give you enough information so you can see how complex the situation is. You can read the article here: http://www.nenahsylver.com/holistic_health_hypothyroidism.html There are other articles you can link to as well about the thyroid gland. Before I see an endocrinologist, I would ask what success s/he has had with natural therapies, and if s/he has used any nutritional supplements in combination with thyroid hormone-and also what types of thyroid hormone are being used. Good luck. Let us know how you fare.
