Hello Listers,

On the subject of resistance of metals. To remove misconceptions
concerning the resistance of metals the following information is
presented to the list.

   Metal Resistance

  Silver 1.628
  Copper,drawn 1.724
  Gold 2.44
  Aluminum 2.828
  Bronze 4.16
  Tungsten 5.51
  Zinc 5.75
  Brass 6.17
  Nickel 9.97
  Platinum 10.96
  Tin 11.5
  Steel 15.9
  Lead 20.4
  German silver 33.0
  Antimony 41.7
  Monel 42.5
  Iron,cast 74.4
  Mercury 94.07
  Nichrome 112.2

Resistivity is at 20C and expressed in microhms per centimeter cube.

As we can see silver is the best conductor. If we looked at the
Electromotive series we would find that gold was the best metal for
oxidation resistance (tarnish resistant).

  Bless you Bob Lee
