I also don't use it, so I didn't pay too much attention to an article I read recently, but I do remember that the old fashioned zinc cream was still the best to use. In Australia when we first came here 40 years ago it was quite amusing to see the kids with white noses, and they also could get coloured zinc cream. Then I didn't notice it any more. Interesting now that they are all using chemical sunscreens to find that the old one was the best. If they are out in the mid-day hours they should have hats and shirts. They will get plenty of incidental D. Only mornings and evenings for direct sun on the skin. Or so I am led to believe . . . maybe it depends on your latitude.

I haven't found a really good method to make a home-made one.. However, the one recommended as the most safe is "Baby Blue Lizard", which we use until such a time I can come up with a recipe. EWG lists it as the best. It has to be effective, we've tried so much stuff that was totally natural, but was totally ineffective. Blue Lizard has some ingedients I do not like, but it is amazingly effective, so we compromise.. I don't wear sunscreen personally, but the kids do if they are out for a long time on some days.

Hi All,

I'm looking to create a natural sunscreen cream for my kids on those days that they're out in the sun all day. I do know how important it is for them to get some sun in order to keep their Vit D stores up: however, with TBall and beaches etc., I'd like to get them protected with something that's not full of gunk.

Anybody?

Thanks in advance...
