The original source for the NCCAM warning is The Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database. A while ago I subscribed to that service specifically to learn more about that particular warning.

Well there wasn't much more to learn. The NMCD had no supporting references and the risk was described as 'Theoretical and Minor'. So I wouldn't worry too much.

(The fact the NCCAM published this 'theoretical' risk without any explanation sorta tells whose side they're on doesn't it?)

The warning originated from the National
Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), a part of the
NIH. See:

http://nccam.nih.gov/health/alerts/silver/

"Colloidal silver may interfere with the body's absorption of the
following drugs: penacillamine, quinolones, tetracyclines, and
thyroxine."
