Couldn't the tick's body loosen up because it's just regurgitated into
the bite site from having an alien liquid put on it? And RUBBING the
tick!???These are both good ways to insure MORE of whatever the tick's
stomach contents are will be injected into the site! And I wouldn't
gamble on the peroxide following the injection of pathogens into the
bite entirely. I just hope one of the ticks you've removed this way
wasn't carrying Lyme.

PT: Hi...I live in the hill country of Texas and we deal with a lot
of ticks......I have found a way that works for me.
I take a Q-Tip and soak it in peroxide and rub it on the
tick......the peroxide makes him begin to kick and turn loose....
Then I take an ordinary paid of tweezers and pull him out.....the head
comes out easily with his body since he can’t hold on.
The peroxide sanitizes the bite. You can rub your finger across
the tick and feel his body loosen up its hold after the peroxide has
touched him. He will come out easily and I find there is no
irritation or problem with the area where the tick was camping out.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for that information. We used to use the heat of a cigarette
to get them to back out. Don't smoke any more so I don't know what I
would use. If you can't smother them and can't use heat, what is the
best way to get rid of a tick? Does anyone know?
Thanks.

RE: removing a tick: Wish this were so, but ANY liquid that suffocates
the tick can cause it to regurgitate into the bite: highly undesirable
if the stomach contents have Lyme pathogens, (unless you really want
to increase your chances of infection). That also goes for applying a
blown-out match or really anything that might created a startled
reaction.
Be well,

"Exzema can be controlled with castor oil which is by itself is
sometimes too irritating to the skin so it is recommended to be
blended with another good vegetable oil such as olive, sunflower in a
20/80 blend and put on the scalp or skin and allowed to soak well. As
far as ticks are concerned a tip from the internet is to use a cotton
ball and vegetable oil (castor oil) and completely cover the ticks
body heavily with the oil. This stops the tick from being able to
breathe and they will back out of the skin grab them with the cotton
ball and dispose then clean the site with alcohol."
