I prefer glass for storage, but have used plastic jug with plastic caps. I bought a 1 gallon glass jug with a plastic cap at a flea market for $ 6.75. Cleaned it thoroughly and use it. You can also get new plastic jugs at Walmart for $.99. Saran Wrap under the regular lid probably be fine.
