I don't know if any of you have experienced a Native American Church
ceremony or not.... I had the honor of experiencing a dusk to dawn ceremony
in a Tee Pee at Mission San Juan in San Antonio, TX, about 2 years ago on
Easter night. Rather than "getting sick" the Native Americans consider
vomiting "getting well"... a catharsis or purging of bad spirits and such.
After experiencing the sacred peyote ceremony led by a "Road Man"... the
Native American Church spiritual leader, similar to a priest in other
religions, I have come around to their way of thinking, including a deep
respect for their "medicine" ... The experience was one of the most
beautiful nights of my life. Water drums, singing, the fire, cedar, sage,
eagle feathers, ... I will never forget it
