I agree with you Rick. Too often people don't read the article, nor do research to verify it before reposting. It takes on a life of it's own, spreading false information based on an excitable headline. I think this particular falsehood has been around for about a year now. There are also a lot of news sites that claim to be "conservative" that also spread a lot of falsehoods, using enticing headlines. These days it is so important to know exactly where you are getting your news, who the author is, and how accurate the information is. Headlines can be manipulated so easily.
