List,

Just curious about using triethanolamine in this ointment....checking the
MSDS database at Cornell shows over 800 products containing this....I guess
you would have to know which one you were using to get the facts (maybe not
even then). Note the entry from the MSDS for Murphys Oil Soap:

Proprietary: NO
Ingredient: TRIETHANOLAMINE (SUSPECTED HUMAN CARCINOGEN BY ACGIH) INTENDED
CHANGE (IC)Ingredient Sequence Number: 04 Percent: 5%
NIOSH (RTECS) Number: KL9275000 CAS Number: 102-71-6 ACGIH TLV: 3.1 MG/CUM IC
Other Recommended Limit: A2 CARCINOGEN -------------------------------------

Interesting....I wonder if this is only this particular triethanolamine or if
the carcinogenity pertains to any form of the chemical? Many of the other
MSDS don't mention any carcinogenity. Anybody know?

Here is the url if you want to look at it for yourself:

Always curious,

Jules
