Ha folks, Strangely the only three places I've heard English as it "should" be, uttered were: 1. BBC (England) radio twenty years ago. 2. India. (Especially the richer "Railroad" families.) 3. Twice in Boston Mass.
My father told a story many times of how he once caught out a famous Australian Radio Announcer using a word out of context. ( A VERY rare event as almost nothing was ad lib in those days, but scripted AND well-edited, unlike today) The furthest from "proper" English was in central London! The home of a sub-culture called "Cockneys" ( to qualify as one you had/have to be born with in sound of the Bo Bells) Traditionally they speak in a rhyming slang, based on a jargon and spoken very rapidly. Only old Ozpipple have a hope of understanding them. Cheers, John HAPPY? Go here: www.fablor.com/aurora UNHAPPY?
