CS doesn't stain right away. It oxidizes, which changes it's color in the spilled-on spot from clear to grey-brown, the color of tarnish. My white countertop has been the ultimate viewing area for these changes & I have found that no matter how quickly I wipe up a spill, it will ALWAYS stain, usually showing up 2 days later.
