Hi Judith, MSM has approximately the same toxicity level as pure water. In other words, it is not toxic and can be taken in mega doses if necessary. Anything can be abused or overdone. Even drinking too much water/time. MSM probably has no significant benefit in amounts more than 10 grams per day. Thats an opinion.
