Ever since I had a horrendous case of herpes all over my head, neck, shoulders and half way down my chest and back (29 years ago, I was in Stanford hospital for a week), I have had outbreaks of herpes sores 2 - 4 times per year (on my neck, on my face near my eyes, on my forehead). What kept them from getting out of hand was 5-10,000 mg of L-lysine (an amino acid) per day. The sores would be gone in 3-4 days with the lysine.
