Greetings,

I'm resending this because somehow it didn't make it into the archives
at e-scribe, and quite a few of our lurkers read there...

I've been inspired by all the great help that's getting organized here!

I've gone and resurrected a web site project for the Silver List that's
been languishing for at least a couple of years. I've updated the
graphics and started putting stuff together for helping to run the list.
I'm starting to flesh out the organization of the thing so it's ready to
accept *your* contributions.

I hope to give us a proper place to *put* the many good words we're
putting together. And I don't want to compete with anyone else's
efforts. I will happily link to the similar sites that have been started
by some of our members.

It'll also be the origin of more traffic to the list, *and* the
permanent repository of current list rules and instructions and aids for
subscription management.

I'm aiming for a visually simple, fast loading site. There will be
only a handful of graphics except for any that are included in the
content we assemble.

I could use some help:

For example, the FAQ's that Roger is doing will likely fill some of the
"about CS" section. I'll use my own writings on list rules and
management to fill out the "Silver List" section.

I'll need tips and pointers documented for all the mail sorting, HTML
stopping, archive searching techniques people have come up with.

I'd like somebody to gather, edit, and collate testimonials.

We need people to gather, evaluate, write descriptions of, and collate
links to web sites, newsletters, mailing lists, etcetera for our "Links
and Resources" section.

We'll need people to do some data mining at the archives to answer
common questions like "Does CS work on <blank>?"

I'm going to need a consensus on a "simplest CS maker" and recipe, as
well as the easiest and best modifications for a "better CS maker." This
will need to include some analysis of product to determine
concentration, particle size, percentage ionic, and the variability of
these parameters for the different generator designs.

Can you say, "We won't need to repeat ourselves all the time?"

You don't have to be able to write if you're good at gathering and
organizing information. I or others can write or edit copy. If you
can't write well, but have good things to say, others can edit you for
style and make you look good!

You don't have to know anything about web page construction, but if you
do I can probably use that too. It *would* help if you were familiar
enough with web sites in general to offer suggestions like "We need a
page for <blank>", or "You need to add a link there!" or "That doesn't
seem to work right!" It's sometimes easier to know how a site ought to
work if you're *not* the one building it!

The only thing you *do* have to have is the time, energy, and
enthusiasm to spare for the effort.

Contact me off list at [email protected] and let me know what you're
interested in doing to help. I'll put together a crew, give you a tour,
and start giving out assignments.

When it's in decent shape I'll release the address of the prototype to
the list for review and further contributions. I have some domain names
registered which I will get turned on when the site is ready to go live
in a few weeks.

Watcha say folks?

Be well,

Mike Devour
