I was very amused by your comments on "Is Anything on QuackWatch True?"
especially since I believe you are absolutely right.
Regarding Oil of Oregano, you can buy it in the health food store, and you
will probably pass out at the price. It is very expensive there, and
people can and do make it themselves with essential oil mixed (usually) with
organic olive oil. That's what you are getting in the health food stores.
You want to make sure you don't buy Thyme from someone saying it's Oregano.
Buy GOOD Oregano, site recommendation below. You'll want to get one of the
carvacrols, which is the active therapeutic component. These are the ones
that are best for flu-control, etc. The smell and taste is horrible.
People "normally" mix it 10% Oregano to 90% of olive oil (you'll want to use
organic olive oil), this amount would last you a VERY long time. Some people
use it 5% to 95%, and some mix it with honey. I believe the "normal" way is
the first, however; that's what I use. I only take 1 or 2 drops under the
tongue at a time. They will NOT make recommendations on this site, because
of the practicing-medicine thing. I've gotten this information from other
helpful sites like this one that do not sell anything.

Click on Essential Oils. Scroll down to Oregano. Make sure you dilute,
normally 10% Oregano 59 90% olive oil (should be organic olive oil). This
will last you eons!

I think their site can be great for finding things that work. If they are
against it, then it most likely works wonders.
Just like on the news the other day they were going on about how the FDA
said that CS and oregano oil were like snake oil, and ineffective on
anthrax. I had no idea that the oregano oil was good for anthrax until I
heard this, and after researching it, am now adding it to CS as a good
defense. As to the snake oil, it must be fantastic stuff since it seem to
always be associated with all the other good remedies the FDA disses, but I
have not been able to find a source for it yet.
