I happen to use 3 volts and a 4.7 Kohm limit resistor with the generator I make. In 1 day you get 5 PPM, in 2 days you get 15-20 PPM, in 3 days you get 15-20 PPM, in 4 days you get 15-20 PPM. I am not in a hurry and with this system the time is not critical.
