I have been lurking for some time on this very interesting list, sometimes understanding what is posted and at other times being completely in the dark. I am going to hassle my husband into making the CS, after all he has a science and chemistry background, which might as well come in handy now.
One thing I would like to report to you all however is the following information. A good friend has a grand-son who is a Senior Registrar (Medical Officer) at one of the leading University teaching hospitals in Oz. The friend (an ex-chemical engineer from way back who is over 80 now)was in a medical corp during Korean war and he said they used a type of CS to disinfect wounds in the field, and they used Hydrogen Peroxide for similar applications. However, he has reported to me that his grandson says they are currently using CS at the teaching hospital for burns and some infections where antibiotic resistance is presenting problems. Apparently the hospital is making their own preparations. I have no further details and have been asked not to reveal the identity of the hospital. (Interesting, huh?) Anyway, as an absolute newby can someone say what is the difference, in simple English, between silver nitrate and CS please? It is a great list, I am learning heaps. Cheers, Annie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
