Speaking of a deep cut.. I was fishing off the coast of Alaska a few years back when a hand caught a fishhook heading over the side at about 8 knots. The circle hook caught his trigger finger and ripped the meat off the inside all the way to the tip. He had a shrimp looking appendage hanging on to the tip of his finger and exposed bone/tissue to that.
Immediately, he unzipped, and you guessed it, urinated on his finger for a full urine wash. He bound the flap back to where it had been all his life and a week later he was fishing again with full use. For deep cuts that I have received, however, I let it bleed and close them with superglue. I have healed some great gaps this way. They leach a bit through the glueline, and I have to add more from time to time, but always success. Urine is sterile.
