Does anyone out there know of a non-toxic solution to saving my doggies from hordes of flies which just settle on them in bunches in this hot weather? They bite their ears to pieces. Must say, however, that cs puts the bites to right rapidly!
Thank you1 Yvonne Yvonne- Here are a couple of natural insect repellants for people you might want to look into- Neem Aura Herbal Outdoor Spray for skin- Aloe vera, neem leaf extract in alcohol, veg. glycerin, coconut oil, polyclucose from coconut, neem oil, myrrh extract, lemongrass oil, orange oil, citronella oil, lavender oil, anise oil, cedarwood oil, rhodiumwood oil, barberry extract, thyme extract, goldenseal extract, chamomile extract. Quantum Buzz Away spray- 5% Citronella oil, Cedarwood oil, Eucalyptus oil, Lemongrass, and Peppermint. I get health products from www.azurefarm.com. There are lots of essential oils that repel insects, such as the ones in the above products, so you could try them. Tea tree oil and Rosemary oil also repel or kill insects. Anise oil and Tea tree oil will kill lice and their eggs on contact. Another approach might be to reduce fly populations in your yard by application of predatory nematodes that attack various insect larvae in the soil, including beetle grubs, flies, and fleas. It is said that feeding an animal brewer's yeast will repel fleas and perhaps other insects. Nancy -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
