And lest new people lurking on the list write us off as a bunch of 
loonies, or despair of dealing with such strange complications...

It is probably safe to say that the lunar or tidal influences on CS 
production are measureable, but not really crucial. They were 
discovered and documented by some of our more careful experimentors 
trying to explain variations in the process.

That said, as far as I know nobody ever made a batch of CS that didn't
work because the moon was wrong. So if you're just starting out, don't
worry about it! Most of us don't.
