Hi all. On Saturday I received a C&D order from the counsel for Brigham Young University because I made reference in an article I had on my website about CS to the tests so widely published on the web of CS done at BYU by BYU faculty.
The Actual C&D letter was accompanied by an enclosure referred to at the bottom of the C&D letter. In the actual C&D letter it claims copyright infringement while in the unsigned enclosure it says in part: "....Furthermore, since Brigham Young University did not officially sponsor this testing or the test results, any references, whether direct or indirect, to Brigham Young University's name or any related inferences implying university support or association are inappropriate." That seems like a complete contradiction of their claim of copyright on the report. I have noticed that a number of sites which previously carried the report are no longer. However there are still many places where the report can be found in full. There are also any number of other sites where articles about it or referring to can be found. For the moment I have removed the article from my website but will be putting it back up with some minor editing. I would like to know if any of you received a similar C&D order from BYU and, if so, what you have chosen to do about it? TIA LTR
