Hi Ron,
    Yes, I believe it will be useful.  I think you are on the right track.
Here are some suggestions:

1. Get a TDS meter to check the PPM (www.pridecomm.cc/cs has one that is
pre-calibrated)
2. Make sure you are using distilled water (Walmart brand is 1 PPM)
3. Make sure the coins are .999 silver or better (www.ccsilver.com has .999
(wire and sheet) & .9999 wire)
4. Babysit the first few batches to track the time it takes to get to the
PPM that you want, then get a timer and set it for that amount of time
5. Filter with an unbleached coffee filter.  You may first rinse it in
distilled water.
