Sorry for the off subject post all, but felt this is important.
What works for me and others I've told is this. Pinch the nose where
the cartilage meets the bone from each side close to the slope of the
nose, and hold it for 30-60 seconds after they stop. He may have to
pinch hard, and jam the pinch up into the bone hard from below by
pushing upward and inward or outward to the bone, or down into the
cartilage from above by pulling downward and into the cartilage. The
trick is to stimulate a nerve in that area that overrides the nerve
causing the hiccup, you've just got to find it. Works every time for me.
