>From research I have seen into spider bites it clearly shows that the danger is mostly from infection and that it is this which needs to be treated as quickly as possible. Apparently spiders carry all sorts of infectious agents which are transferred with the bite.
The research was done to find out why spiders did not have any negative effects from all the bacteria, viruses, etc that they seem to carry around with them with the veiw to finding sources of potential future antibiotics, etc. If this is in fact correct that the greatest danger with spider bites if from infection, then CS topically should be very effective. I use iodine solution on spider bites as well as ant bites and it works very well, (even when I was bitten by a highly venomous spider). However, there are some spiders whose bite is so dangerous you would probably want to seek urgent medical attention in addition to putting CS on the bite site.
