It is our belief that the effectiveness is predicated on "particle surface area". In this context, effectiveness is defined as the colloid's ability to interact with its environment. Particle surface area increases as: * particle concentration goes up * particle size goes down You can find references in Ronald Gibbs book pertaining to particle surface area that confirms what is stated above. Comparing results from various products can get quite difficult to quantify. While the theory is solid, it is not clear to me the extent to which results have a linear relationship to increasing particle surface area.
