Below is a reference to argyria caused by colloidal silver.
In my not-so-humble opinion, colloidal silver is one of the
worst hoaxes to be perpetrated against us in the name of natural health
supplementation. It is not a panacea, it is a POISON.

A poison, even though it has been determined by the EPA that silver by
itself is essentially non toxic to mammals.
It took something like 9 grams injected into dogs to kill them? That's
enough to make a good sized bullet and shoot them. [Check me on the
figure..it's been a while]

Dr. Andrew Weil, one of the foremost natural health oriented
###spin## doctors in the world, says it quite eloquently: ## in doublespeak##
"This is nonsense: the human body doesnt need silver, and no immune
system disorders are related to a deficiency of it."
################ A] The action of CS is not related to or dependant on
the immune system..so..of course, immune system disorders are not related.
Humm... does that mean that silver cannot be considered a
supplement? Maybe it should be considered as a 'nothing' and be labeled
and regulated as such. We all know that nothing works, right? ["Contains
10 PPM silver in water...does what it does...you figure it out"]
B] There is no known biological niche for silver in mammals, so CS will not
be assimilated into a cell structure unless it is bonded to something that
does have a niche. [Like a protein?]
If it is not assimilated, it will just pass on through and be
eliminated. "Establishment" research shows a 94% elimination rate in 24
hours of oral doses in monkeys...98-99% in mice in 24 hours for mice. [US
EPA studies 1985]
..the only question is, How long does it take to eliminate the
remainder? {Use some common sense and take a break now and then}
Inhaled doses of silver particles by dogs...finely ground dust.. were
eliminated at 90% in 30 days. [Phalen and Morrow 1973]
But the Canadian version of the EPA has stated that silver is "1000 times
more toxic to microbes than it is to mammals" [industrial water waste studies]
So, what is that silver, that has no biological niche and that's 'just
passing through' doing that's NOT related to the immune system?
"Youre supposed to feel better, age more slowly and heal faster. If all
this sounds too good to be true, I can assure you it is."

you'll absolutely see about healing [AMAZINGLY] faster.
I'm not old enough to age more slowly..so I dunno.
I'm 50 yrs old and people say I look 35 if I shave off my white beard. So
what? Just what does "younger" look like?

Regarding the carcinogenic (and other toxic) properties of silver: the
1979 Registry of Toxic Effects lists 5 separate studies relating silver to
cancer in animals and skin toxicity for humans.

silver-containing product for cold and allergy prophylaxis.

Now there's the study of all studies!!!
One person holds a lightning rod in an open field and gets zapped,
therefore, lightning storms are 100% fatal.
We review the past and present medicinal roles of silver and include a
differential diagnosis for argyria. The hyperpigmentation of argyria is
usually permanent, and it follows a sun-exposed distribution.
########### What is a differential diagnosis? According to studies from
Rosemarys links, the researchers were extremely frustrated when trying to
find [anongst silver miners and other silver involved workers] or produce
cases of argryia no matter how drastic their experiments.
No mention of chelation therepy or selenium.
This case report highlights the potential for toxicity following the use
of dietary supplements and demonstrates the importance of physician
inquiry regarding alternative medicines.
######## Too generic a statement to be meaningful. "What"
supplement? How much? Try eating a bushel of columbine root [digitalis]

Finally, we examine the limited role of the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) in regulating alternative medicines marketed as dietary supplements.
### "limited" Maybe the FDA does have some sense...and words things
politically to avoid building a jail cell and calling everything outside of
it a prison. Consider the position they hold between the "people" [who
tend to do whatever they want regardless of laws] and their "benefactors"
[big drug companies who do all their own testing..in their own self interest]
Think, "Well, we don't really know and don't have the funding or mandate to
find out..and we DO know, but can't admit to the public, that the Pharms
have screwed us over many times...... so, we'll make loopholes and deny
that we did"
Everyones asses are covered and the system works exactly as badly as it is
supposed to. [vs as well as intended..a LOT harder considering it was set
up wrong to start with and it's easier to move planets than it is to change
a political structure]
[Doublespeak can work which ever way you work it]
Imagine that suddenly the FDA had to do thier own expensive triple blind
studies. [and YOU ..everyone...had to pay for ALL of it instead of just
drug users...merely supplemented by U the taxpayer]
A big chunk of the pharm industry would lose their jobs and have to work
for the Gummint at less pay.
A] "The people" want a smaller Gummint.
B] "The people" don't want to lose jobs.
catch 22
Change the system? Political suicide.
Solution? Make it not work as intended with supplemental loopholes and
maintain some illusion of control.
If YOU get YOURSELF in trouble, they get to say "I tole U so" without
actually having to have said anything.
Result? People do whatever they want to and worry a lot if they do it too
loudly. [only the lawn that grows too tall gets mowed, but everyone likes
grass ... as long as it stays out of the garden]
The FDA giant is saying "Don't wake me up...PLEASE!" [or, We only
respond to the bigger stinks that might come to look like our farts...and
we do that by holding YOUR nose.]
shhhh...we have a not so secret. ;-)
PS "common useage" means universally ignored.
