Don't the ion exchange add sodium to the resin in exchange for the minerals? This would not make good quality cs, I would think. At one time softener resin was made by Dow and Rohm &Hass. The only purpose the glass wool would have would be to retain the resin. Both resin and wool should be easy to get. I wouldn't want to be the one to have to regenerate that pipe setup. Bob Smith
