I often put CS in one of my dog's drinking water - and the drinking water is
from my well.  The well water is very hard and full of minerals.  I've seen
nothing unusual in the water and using it this way does help him.  If I had
to use distilled water for him (an 82# Rottweiler plus a hot, dry climate) -
no way, I simply couldn't afford it!
