Hello ~ I have attempted to get into the archives to seek an answer to my question, but have been unable to access the archives.
I have read where many people advise CS kills the good and bad bacteria. I believe it was Don Croft, the creator of the Terminator Zapper, who advised me that CS only kills the bad bacteria. As such, I am looking for info about this. I have a 5 year old nubian goat that I was trying to wean a doeling off of. I was in a hurry...and she got a hard udder on the side this doeling suckles. A friend suggested taking her temp, so I did, and it was 107.3! Normal goat temp is 102.5 to 103.0. She looked/looks great, acted normal, ate as usual, even with this high temp, only noticeable problem was this hard udder. I administered 20-25 cc of CS, Parvaid, and asorbic acid 4x/day for 3 days and her temp has come down to 102.8. I was concerned, since she's a ruminent that she would quit eating, but this has not occurred. So, now I am wondering if oral administration to the 7 year old male with the 'incurable' CAE virus can be done orally, rather than via IV or in conjunction with DMSO. Actually, wondering if I could place CS in the livestock waterers, as this would've prevented the mastitis in the first place, tho of course, I am the responsible party for not having let the doeling suckle often enough, thereby causing this problem in the first place! :-( Would appreciate any thoughts, links, etc. Wondering if just high doses of CS would kill all the beneficial bacteria and that reasonable amounts would not? Thank you for any and all assistance.
