Chlorine in the powered form [swimming pool stuff] is much less 'slippery' than Chlorox.

The water purification kit used powdered chlorine stuff like I use to 'shock' my well to knock out iron algea. [iron bacteria?]
If I use Chlorox [sodium hypochlorite] to shock the well, the water is unuseable for a longer time.
The powdered stuff is different and doesn't stick unrinse-ably to your skin like chlorox water. It seems to evaporate? better.

Thanks Ode, for this suggestion. 30 years ago Working with Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts as we raised our 3 daughters (all First Class) & 2 sons (Both Eagles) instead of boiling water for drinking, we would add an ounce of Chlorox to a gallon of Water, let it set for 30 minutes to purify, then drink OR we would add an Iodine tablet to a canteen of water, wait 30 minutes, then drink. The only problem was unpleasant taste. Since discovering God's gift of CS, upon being told by Clermont to boil our water to purify it due to broken water line in our area; we just put 1 oz. CS (10-20 ppm in 1 gallon water, shake, wait 30 minutes then use as potable water. 100% effective & no unpleasant taste. I also, suspect the Hydrogen Peroxide might kill the microbes alone; however, thanks to a tip from many of you wonderful contributors to this list, I add 5cc (1 teaspoonful) H2O2 to each quart of CS solution & believe it to be many times more effective that CS alone & without any bad stuff, such as Chorine.

A while back I was looking for ways to sterilize water for camping.
One system used Clorine to kill microbes and Hydrogen peroxide to neutralize the Chlorine.
Wassup with this?
