From what I have read I gather that the electricity changes some proteins involved in the bite and neutralizes toxins. I won't work for some bites as some of the poisons are nerve poisons and others affect other systems. Don't recall just which ones are which re electricity. But the info is out there. As you can tell, my understanding is fuzzier now than when I first read about it, but maybe the general outline is ok. Hope one of you more knowledgeable ones will do an in-depth and let us know. pj
