John, Thanks for the reference to the Hach Manual.
I had used the formulas of Lord Rayleigh, which are only the first step in the analysis and over a century old now. Rayleigh's equations sufficed to explain the behavior of light in aerosols well enough to design successful tyndallometry in WWI gas warfare countermeasures. Matthew
