What I have always wanted to know is how argyria of the face develops,
that is: does it occur full-blown in patches, or over the whole face
overnight? or does it appear as faint greyness at first, in patches or
all over?
And I still wonder re Rosemary Jacobs, wasn't what caused her argyria
a somewhat common Rx when she started it? So where are all the other
grey people? All in all even when much more likely-to-cause-argryia
silver products were somewhat commonly used, there are really
vanishingly few cases of argryia, certainly not many as severe as hers.
Where are they? My personal best guess is that something else obtains in
people who do develop it, even when using the more likely forms of
silver. And I still will never understand why she didn't just stop
using it, when she first noticed any greying.
For most of us, using homemade, mostly ionic EIS in quantities less
than a quart a day....argyria just doesn't seem to be a concern.
For examples, Trem has shared many anecdotal reports from people
using 2 liters a day or more for a year or more (IIRR) and no argyria.
Is that right, Trem?
So, where are all the grey people? If my fingernail moons ever start
turning blue, I'll keep an eye on it. But I don't think I'd reduce or
stop EIS consumption or use. Certainly I never plan to stop spraying my
eyes, nose, and throat daily. That is probably the most effective way I
am currently using EIS, and I haven't gotten a cold or flu in almost a
year and a half, and I cannot for the life of me see that vanishingly
tiny amount of EIS ever causing argryia in anyone. But what do I know?

The answer is: Because bluing under the nails may a precursor to a
blue face which for most people would be very objectionable. It would
be very convenient if we find out blue under the nails appeares first,
so that an observant individual who knew what he/she was looking for
could effectively avoid argeria of the face. At the extremely rare
first sign of blue under the nails we could cut back or stop silver
use before proceeding to the point of devistating our whole quality of
life.
Of course, the whole thing is addressing a very rare situation. The
individual in that situation doesn't really care how few people are in
it. They want knowledge with which to make informed decisions.
I'm glad this list is here to "openly" address and discuss this. We
are paving the way for future generations to enjoy the benefits of
CS/EIS. This includes our children, grandchildren, neices, nephews,
etc. We want to leave the best leagacy possible. Let's cover all the
bases :)

Why bother? A little blue at the base of nails is not that
objectionable.
