We should enjoy life so why not use it daily? When my kids are raised and gone I'd love to have sterling silver for daily use. My Mother has some silver spoons she uses every day and puts them in the dishwasher and has been doing this with these spoons for over 30 years. It does change the finish. If you're uncomfortable with using the dishwasher, you might want to consider experimenting with a piece or two, even ones not from your set, for a while.
