Hello all:

Recently a couple of quart batches of CS made with my SG6 had a slight
yellowish tinge. Since it is normally clear, I did not like this. The
ppm as measured by my PWT meter was between 9 and 10, so that was ok,
but the TE when I shone the laser through was thick even in broad
daylight, indicating a high particle content (it is normally difficult
to see in daylight). Holding it up to the sunlight, I could see lots of
sparkles whereas a good batch has few if any.

I have read that adding H2O2 can break down the particles, so I added
two drops of 35% H2O2 to each batch and waited a few hours. They became
quite cloudy, then started to clear up, but never did clear all the
way - so I added another two drops to each and they became cloudy again.
After a full day, they were clearer, but still not completely clear, so
another two drops, and waited another day. Still slightly cloudy, still
lots of sparkles in sunlight, still very pronounced TE. So I decided
that was as far as I could go, and would not drink this stuff but use it
externally only.

I poured off the liquid into another container, and at the bottom of
each jar was a coating of white sludge. Some kind of precipitate
obviously settled out, but not enough to totally clear up the solution.

Question is, why did the H2O2 not clear it up completely (6 drops of 35%
per quart). What was the sludge that settled out (silver oxide? or
heavier silver particles?). Why did it still display a thick TE?

If I add 35% H2O2 to CS that is clear to begin with, will it behave the
same way? How much should I add per quart (actually a 26 oz mason jar).
I have read that a lot of people do this to make CS more effective (more
ionic, less particulate), but it seems not to work for me, unless I am
doing something wrong.
